Monochrome looks: a statement of style

The challenge of the season: create the perfect look by using a single colour. The last trend of haute couture is now spreading to pret-a-porter as well and even our wardrobe can not ignore its lure. Combining colours give us the ability to vary the effects, from casual to fancy, but when you have only a single colour to state your style the game levels up and the effect is even more stunning. Minimalist ot hypermodern? It all depends on which colour you choose. Total black is the classic choice, a timeless iconic style. Also neutral nuances as beige, cream and grays are very versatile and easy to wear, from everyday life to formal occasions. Optical white instead is quite demanding and not to so easy to sport: for sure it makes for a great effect in a long fancy gown or used for geometric and structured designs. The trend of the moment is to give space to colours that we normally use only as a complement of our outfit. Sage green, blue, coral have the leading role of the monochrome style, from head to toe, creating contrasts and movements layering different materials and textures.

Such a sophisticate look request a special attention when comes to choosing the right accessories. It’s not an easy task since the colour of each accessory should match in the exact nuance or it will be immediately visible jeopardizing the overall effect. If you already choose the dress it would be a good idea to take it with you when shopping for accessories in order to be sure to find the correct shade of the colour. Or you can still play on contrasts: in this case the accessories should be as bold as the look, so avoid neutral nuances and go for the strongest and most whimsical match.
